At Brown Counselling, I am honoured to be the first person you will speak to when reaching out for help! I know how much courage it takes to make this step, and I am passionate about making your experience of starting therapy as efficient and stress-free as possible. I can answer any questions you may have about the therapeutic process, or about any of our services. It would be my pleasure to match you with a therapist that would best suit your needs.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), and a member in good standing with the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals
(OAMHP). I hold a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology, and specialize in the treatment of adults. I am passionate about the preservation of harmony in relationships and families. In addition, as a military spouse and mother of two, my counselling passions include supporting military personnel and their families as well as helping pre- and post-natal women navigate through the wonderful, yet unique challenges of motherhood. It is important to me to exhibit flexibility in offering you a number of evidence-based, scientific treatments because I do not believe that therapy is a "one size fits all" endeavour. It is a very personal journey which should be customized to fit your situation, strengths, personality, and goals. I am also trained in the provision of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for the treatment of acute and chronic traumas, anxiety, depression, addictions, phobias, and grief.
Life can throw at us both amazing moments and difficult hurdles and sometimes we all can use a little extra support to help us better understand and process some of the complex challenges we experience and navigate. I offer counselling and psychotherapy services to adults, children, families, and youth who are experiencing a wide range of personal challenges. I hold a Masters Degree in Counselling from the University of Ottawa and I am a Registered Psychotherapist. My philosophy to therapy originates from both strength-based and client-centered perspectives. I work from an integrative approach, pulling from several therapies including Cognitive Behavioural, Narrative, Interpersonal, and Art therapy, depending on the individual client needs. I also offer Emotionally Focused Family Therapy. My goal is to provide a therapeutic environment that is safe, supportive, compassionate and empathetic, allowing you to uncover new insights and move at your own pace towards the changes you hope to create.
Life’s journey can be both challenging and beautiful, sometimes simultaneously! Life circumstances, heavy emotions and difficult times can feel like the weight of the world on our shoulders. As a therapist, my hope is that my warm presence and unique insight will allow you to thoughtfully sort through the hard stuff that comes with being human. Together, we will explore how your life experiences are impacting your ability to live a satisfying life, as well as develop your confidence and ability to cope with life difficulties. I hold a Master of Education degree in Counselling Psychology and a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) designation with the CRPO. I offer counselling and psychotherapy services to youth and adults who are experiencing various personal or relational challenges. I believe that each individual is unique and that their treatment plan should reflect this. In order to achieve this, I draw on client-centred, psychodynamic and strength-based perspectives in session. My prior experience working with the Indigenous community, has further shaped my practice as a psychotherapist. By honoring one’s cultural identity, I hope to provide a safe space where individuals feel comfortable and safe processing their own mental health while promoting resiliency and healing.
I think of myself, and the people I meet in the therapeutic space at Brown Counselling and Therapy Services, as fellow travellers engaging in the exploration of the hardships and joys that life brings to us all. As a person-centred counsellor, I believe an individual knows what path is best for themselves. Part of this journey is knowing one’s true self and envisioning their ideal self. When an individual can successfully merge these two concepts of self, they may find themselves more at peace. In a session with me, you will feel genuine empathy and non-judgement in relation to whatever brings you to counselling. I will seek to understand you and your journey. This a process largely rooted in your own self-discovery. I draw upon aspects of person-centred therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (managing thoughts, behaviours, emotions and bodily feelings), solution-focused therapy, and logo therapy (looking down various pathways ahead and finding meaning in life). Using each approach or technique will be mutually agreed upon by us. This ensures you will have both ownership, and understanding of our therapeutic relationship and the therapeutic process.
I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. My experience and interests are based on the challenges of anxiety, depression, life change and existential crises, grief, stress, relationships, anger, and supporting those who care for others. I believe we can build a healthy life for you- both in therapeutic sessions, and in the time between them. I work with adults of all ages.
I look forward to meeting you.
I hold a Master of Education degree in Counselling Psychology and Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Developmental and Educational Psychology. I specialize in helping teens and young adults to develop learning and motivational strategies that enable them to approach difficult challenges and transitions in their school and work lives. By honouring the unique personalities, interests, and strengths of my clients, I foster a collaborative relationship and work to create a welcoming, non-judgmental environment where clients can talk about difficulties they may be experiencing at school or work.
I use collaborative approaches to help my clients find solutions to face learning challenges that negatively impact their motivation and life satisfaction. I tailor my approach based on what my clients need from me while incorporating playful activities. I help teens recognize coping strategies that often impact their sleep, school performance, and social interactions, with adaptive and empowering strategies. I seek to help my clients view learning challenges as opportunities to discover personal strengths and develop resilience.

Prior to becoming a member of the CRPO, I completed an Honors undergraduate degree in Neuroscience and Mental Health at Carleton University and a post-graduate in Addiction Treatment and Prevention at Georgian College.
Throughout my time in scholastic and vocational endeavors, I have had the opportunity to participate in training for multiple evidence-based treatment modalities including Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Narrative Therapy. In many of my vocational experiences, I have had the opportunity to work with youth in varying capacities and working with this population has become a passion of mine.
As a therapist, it is important to me that I approach my sessions from a place of compassion that creates an open, non-judgmental environment for my clients. The focus of my work is to remain client centered and to move in accordance with the clients’ strengths and needs in order to support them in meeting their identified goals.

Sometimes in life, we are faced with challenges and difficulties that may prevent us from functioning effectively. I strive to help guide individuals through some of their most personal and painful experiences by providing a non-judgmental environment where they can feel connected, supported, and understood. My overall goal is to help my clients increase their personal insight, promote healthy behaviours, and improve upon or teach new methods for coping. I provide assessment and therapy to children, youth, and adults who may be dealing with challenges related to anxiety, stress, depression, low mood, anger, grief, trauma, emotion regulation, and other difficulties. Using an integrative approach, we will work collaboratively toward positive change and an overall sense of greater stability in your life. You will get the opportunity to tell me about yourself and the reason(s) that brought you into treatment. As I recently became a mother, I also welcome the opportunity to work with others as they experience the exciting, yet daunting, journey of what it means to be an expectant or new mother and family. I look forward to working with you!
